Shiny Happy People es un sencillo de la banda estadounidense R.E.M que aparece dentro de su álbum de 1991 que llevó por título Out of Time, disco con el que consiguieron llegar a un abanico de público más amplio, logrando estar en las primeras posiciones de las listas musicales del Reino Unido y Estados Unidos.

La voz femenina que se oye en la canción corresponde a la de Kate Pierson, cantante de la banda The B-52´s que también aparece en el video musical.

A pesar de ser uno de los mayores éxitos de la banda, apenas fue interpretada en sus conciertos y ni siquiera fue incluida en su álbum recopilatorio.
