Supernova

One day I’ll be 6 feet underground
Just catching the rain
Feeling no pain
One night
I’ll be up in the stars
Floating away
Feeling no pain

But we’ve got a supernova love
That keeps burning hotter than the sun
And we cool off like comets till we turn to dust
Never waiting for the comedown

Never waiting for the comedown

There’s no way to touch something as real
That even to say it
Maybe will change it
There’s no grace in trying to save it
But you showed me a place
That never decays

Yeah we’ve got a supernova love
That keeps burning hotter than the sun
And we cool off like comets till we turn to dust
Never waiting for the comedown

Standing nowCalling all the people here to see the showCalling for my demons now to let me goI need something, give me something wonderful

I believeShe won't take me somewhere I'm not supposed to beYou can't steal the things that God has given meNo more pain and no more shame and misery

You can't take me downYou can't break me downYou can't take me down

You can't take me downYou can't break me downYou can't take me down

Love and hateHow much more are we supposed to tolerate? Can't you see there's more to me than my mistakesSometimes I get this feeling - makes me hesitate

I believeShe won't take me somewhere I'm not supposed to beYou can't steal the things that God has given meNo more pain and no more shame and misery

You can't take me downYou can't break me downYou can't take me down

You can't break me downYou can't take me downYou can't break me down

I can see a place of troubleAnd I'm on the verge

For the love of everybodyI need something more

Now I feel some days of troubleI'm in the house of war

For the love of everybodyLook behind the wall

Standing nowCalling all the people here to see the showCalling for my demons now to let me goI need something, give me something wonderful

Ouverture

Angel in Blue Jeans

And though I never got her nameOr time to find out anythingI loved her just the sameAnd though I rode a different roadAnd sang a different songI'll love her till my last breaths goneLike a river made of silverEveryone came running to the sceneI was shot down in cold bloodBy an angel in blue jeans

Late that night she got awayI chased her to the turnpikeThen lost her where the music never playsAnd though I rolled upon the stones and fell into the waterI'll love her till my judgment dayLike a sunrise made of white liesEverything was nothing as it seemsI was shot down in cold bloodBy an angel in blue jeans

I hear voices calling all aroundI keep falling downI think my heart could pound right out of meI see a million different waysTo never leave this maze alive

I woke up in somebody's armsStrange and so familiarWhere nothing could go wrongBarely alive or nearly deadSomehow awake in my own bedAnd there you areLike a highway headed my wayLife is but a dreamI was shot down by your loveMy angel in blue jeans, oh

It Never Rains In Southern California

Got on board a westbound 747Didn't think before deciding what to doOh, that talk of opportunities, TV breaks and moviesRang true, sure rang true

Seems it never rains in southern CaliforniaSeems I've often heard that kind of talk beforeIt never rains in CaliforniaBut girl, don't they warn ya?It pours, man, it pours

Out of work, I'm out of my headOut of self respect, I'm out of breadI'm underloved, I'm underfedI wanna go home

It never rains in CaliforniaBut girl, don't they warn ya?It pours, man, it pours

Will you tell the folks back home I nearly made it?Had offers but don't know which one to takePlease don't tell 'em how you found meDon't tell 'em how you found meGimme a break, give me a break

Seems it never rains in southern CaliforniaSeems I've often heard that kind of talk beforeIt never rains in CaliforniaBut girl, don't they warn ya?It pours, man, it pours

On a Bright May Morning

As I roved out on a bright May morningTo view the meadows and flowers gayWhom should I spy, but my own true loverAs she sat under young willow tree

I took off my hat and I did salute herI did salute her most courageouslyWhen she turned around well the tears fell from herSaying, False young man, you've deluded me

A diamond ring I owned I gave meA diamond ring to wear on your right handBut the vows you made, love, you went and broke themAnd married the lassie that had the land

If I'd married the lassie that had the land, my loveIt's that I'll rue 'til the day I dieWhen misfortune falls sure no man can shun itI was blindfolded I'll ne'er deny

Now at nights when I go to my bed of slumberMy thoughts of my true love run in my mindWhen I turned around to embrace my darlingInstead of gold sure it's brass I find

And I wish the Queen would call home her armyFrom the West Indies, America and SpainAnd every man to his wedded womanIn hopes that you and I will meet again
