Be My Baby

Be My Baby de The Ronettes es una de esas canciones eternas que con solamente el sonido de sus primeros acordes, ya la reconoces. Fue lanzada en agosto de 1963 bajo el sello Philles Records, compuesta por Ellie Greenwich, Jeff Barry y Philip Spector, y rápidamente se convirtió en un éxito, alcanzando el número 2 en la lista estadounidense Billboard Hot 100 y el número 4 en las listas británicas.

Como datos curiosos decir que la batería inicial está interpretada por Hal Blaine, un sonido icónico que ha sido emulado en numerosas canciones posteriores, y además Darlene Love y Cher participaron en los coros.

El impacto de Be My Baby fue tal que Brian Wilson, líder de The Beach Boys, la consideró la mejor canción pop jamás grabada y se inspiró en ella para componer Don't Worry Baby.

Be My Baby no solo es un clásico del pop de los 60, es una de esas canciones que siguen emocionando generación tras generación y que también ha dejado su huella en el cine, apareciendo en películas como Mean Streets de Martin Scorsese y Dirty Dancing de Emile Ardolino, lo que ha contribuido a mantener su vigencia a lo largo de los años.

Ha tenido distintas versiones interpretadas por otros artistas como la que en 1973 grabó John Lennon aunque no sería publicada hasta 1998 en el disco Anthology. En 1992 el grupo mexicano Onda Vaselina también hizo su propia versión en castellano, en 2013 Michael Bublé hizo su propia versión, en 2014 hizo lo propio la cantante y actriz estadounidense Bette Midler o la que en 2022 realizó el productor e ingeniero de sonido Alan Parsons grabando una versión con la que cierra su disco From the New World.

DJ Play A Christmas Song es el primer sencillo del álbum navideño de estas Navidades del 2023 que va a venir de la mano de la cantante californiana Cher, que llevará por título Christmas y que es su primer disco en sus casi 60 años de carrera dedicado a canciones navideñas, que además contará con increíbles duetos, con los que tampoco ha contado a lo largo de su carrera discográfica.

La canción no parece navideña, la verdad sea dicha, pero eso es lo que me gusta de ella, que es una canción para escucharla en cualquier momento, para bailarla, cantarla y disfrutarla a todas horas y que tiene todas las papeletas para convertirse en un nº 1 y volverse icónica, como lo es la propia Cher.

Our Day Will Come es una canción compuesta en 1963 por Bob Hilliard y Mort Garson, que llegó a las primeras posiciones de las listas musicales ese mismo año y que estaba interpretada por el grupo estadounidense Ruby & The Romantics.

La maravillosa e inolvidable cantante británica Amy Winehouse hizo una increíble versión que aparece en su álbum recopilatorio póstumo de 2011 que llevó por título Lioness: Hidden Treasures y que fue lanzado como segundo sencillo.

Por supuesto, a lo largo de los años ha tenido muchas más versiones, como las que han hecho Cher, Christina Aguilera, Jamie Cullum y Cliff Richard, entre muchos otros.
