It's a Hard Life

It´s a Hard Life es una maravillosa canción de la banda británica Queen, compuesta por Freddie Mercury y lanzada como tercer sencillo de su álbum de 1984 que llevó por título The works.

Un tema con sonidos operísticos, a los que la banda de rock nos tiene acostumbrados y el principio del tema está basado en la línea "Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto!" un aria de la ópera Pagliacci de Ruggero Leoncavallo, que aparece también dentro de la banda sonora de la película A Night At The Opera, título que dio nombre también a un disco de Queen de 1975.

El video, dirigido por Tim Pope, se rodó en Múnich durante dos días y en el se puede ver a los integrantes de la banda caracterizados de forma operística y también (como curiosidad) aparece una guitarra de un cráneo y huesos, tocada por Brian May y que costó más de 1.000 libras esterlinas.

We Will Rock You

We Will Rock You es una de las mejores y más conocidas canciones de la banda británica Queen, compuesta por su guitarrista, Brian May en 1977 y que aparece dentro de su álbum que llevó por título News of the World.

Su pegadizo sonido, marcando el ritmo con las palmas y un sólo de guitarra, la han convertido en todo un himno del rock, siendo versionada en numerosas ocasiones y se la considera una de las mejores canciones de la historia según la revista Rolling Stone.

Realmente, la canción no lleva batería y los sonidos están generados por los miembros de la banda, los técnicos e ingenieros musicales y por Betty, la mujer que les traía el té, dando pisotones en el estudio de grabación.

Otro dato curioso es que el video fue grabado en el patio trasero del batería Roger Taylor.

El sencillo fue lanzado como cara B de We Are the Champions, aunque en Estados Unidos las dos canciones salían como cara A y alcanzó las primeras posiciones de las listas musicales de todo el mundo.

La canción se interpretó en todas las giras de Queen, casi siempre en penúltimo lugar, seguida por We Are the Champions y también formó parte del mítico y mágico Live Aid de 1985.

Se interpretó también al final del Concierto Tributo a Freddie Mercury en 1992, siendo interpretada por Axl Rose, líder de la banda estadounidense Guns N´Roses y en la Ceremonia de Clausura de los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres de 2012 fue interpretada por la cantante británica Jessie J y los integrantes actuales de Queen, incluyéndose algunas imágenes de Freddie Mercury como homenaje.

Sin duda es una verdadera joya musical, un clásico por el que no pasa el tiempo y que permanecerá eternamente en nuestros corazones.

Thank God It´s Christmas es un maravilloso sencillo navideño que fue lanzado por la banda de rock inglesa Queen en 1984. La canción escrita por Brian May y Roger Taylor estuvo durante seis semanas en las listas del Reino Unido.
