Back for Good

Back for Good siempre me ha parecido una de esas canciones que resumen todo lo que significó el pop de los noventa... es una balada de Take That, el grupo británico que marcó a toda una generación, que fue lanzada en marzo de 1995 como segundo sencillo del álbum Nobody Else, publicado por el sello RCA Records y que fue escrita por Gary Barlow, quien también la interpreta como voz principal.

Cuando Back for Good se estrenó en los BRIT Awards de 1995, la reacción fue inmediata: el público quedó tan enganchado que la discográfica decidió adelantar su lanzamiento. En el Reino Unido debutó directamente en el número uno, vendiendo 300.000 copias en su primera semana y manteniéndose cuatro semanas seguidas en lo más alto de las listas. Fue el cuarto sencillo más vendido del año en el país y con el tiempo se convirtió en uno de los temas más emblemáticos del grupo.

El éxito no se limitó al Reino Unido ya que Back for Good llegó al número uno en treinta países, entre ellos Alemania, Irlanda, Noruega, España y Australia, y alcanzó el número 7 en el Billboard Hot 100 de Estados Unidos, lo que fue todo un logro para una banda británica de pop, ganando al año siguiente el Brit Award a Mejor Sencillo del Año.

Con el paso del tiempo, se ha convertido en una especie de clásico moderno y con los años, Back for Good ha seguido vendiendo copias y manteniendo su lugar en la memoria de quienes crecieron escuchándola.

Cada vez que la escucho, tengo la sensación de que el tiempo se detiene un poco y ojalá por algún momento, pudiese volverse atrás para poder reencontrarnos con quienes más queremos.
