Up Where We Belong es el tema central de la película de 1982 An Officer and a Gentleman, compuesto por el músico estadounidense Jack Nitzsche y la compositora y cantautora canadiense Buffy Sainte-Marie con letra de Will Jennings e interpretada por el cantante británico Joe Cocker junto con la cantante estadounidense Jennifer Warnes.
La canción alcanzó el Nº 1 en las listas musicales estadounidenses durante 3 semanas, significando el primer y único número 1 para Cocker en estados Unidos y el primero también para Jennifer.
El tema consiguió el Oscar a la Mejor Canción ese mismo año y el Globo de oro a la mejor Canción en 1983, al igual que un Grammy a la Mejor Interpretación realizada por un dúo o grupo, ganado un año después un BAFTA.
